Description
Raindance Organic Farm, just 10 minutes north of Ann Arbor, Michigan, exists to serve our community by growing great organic produce and flowers, and by connecting children and adults with the beauty of nature and the gifts of wellness. We are certified organic, three season, no-till, human scale, and open to our community. We grow approximately 35 kinds of vegetables each season, and an additional 50 annual and perennial specialty cut flowers. The heart of the farm is a summer CSA with about 100 families who come to harvest their own shares. Our farm produce goes out to the community through our on-farm CSA, the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market, a You-Pick Flower Pass, an on-farm stand, and two retail grocery spaces in town. Some of our most frequently used tools are a BCS (walking tractor), hoophouses and trellises, reusable landscape fabric, Jang seeders, and Tend planning software. We’re inspired by sustainable farming educators and are increasingly interested in experimenting with and transitioning to no-till farming in order to increase carbon sequestration and sustain healthier soil. In 2022 we have four regular farm crew members for the full season ($15/hour and up), and we are hosting a Sustainable Agriculture Internship program from May-August featuring weekly farm seminars & tours, paid farm work on two certified organic farms, and housing available.
