Organic Certification: The pros, the cons, and the paperwork

This class will help current and future specialty crop producers determine whether or not organic certification makes sense for their operations. Topics include:
1. What does "Certified Organic" actually mean?
2. Is organic certification right for your business?
3. Record keeping and record keeping structures needed to incorporate into your operations in order to obtain organic certification.
Taught by Megan Gambrill: Megan managed crop production and organic certification at Turner Farm for five years. She was responsible for the production of over seventy different crops serving CSA, farmers markets, and wholesale outlets, and managed a team of farmers supported by seasonal apprentices who receive in-depth education in production methods and decision-making.
This year she is excited to join the team at Carriage House Farm.
